Gay.

This term has been a large part of my vocabulary, ever since I can remember ever learning it. Countless times have I used gay to mean stupid or something insulting. But after this life changing experience I’ve had over the weekend, I don’t think I can ever saying and hearing it without thinking twice.

A lot of things happened at this retreat I went on, and it certainly has changed my mind about the use of the term. Of course it won’t be easy, but I think it’s a word that I (as well as everyone) can stop using in a derogatory manner. I’m certainly privileged to have had gone through such an enriching experience this past weekend, but I encourage you whoever reads this to stop using “gay” in a derogatory and hurtful manner. It’s hurtful, ignorant, and a whole lot of terrible other things.

To all the homies, as a friend I’d prefer you don’t use it. If you must, just don’t use it around me. Much love to y’all.

EDIT: Fag too.
